Oh, beautiful for spacious skies…well as long as Trump doesn’t get away with gutting the EPA. This of course has a direct impact on Californians who are one of many groups this megalomaniac has in his sights as an enemy. He can torture Californians by returning their air to the pre-EPA days of smog alerts and unbreathable conditions. For those of you old enough to remember, it hurt, and hurt bad, just to breathe. I guess that’s what we deserve for not voting for you Mister Trump.

For amber waves of grain…amber as in, “in the red.” With tariffs and, here in California, raids on the farm workers by immigration officials, farmers across our state are under siege by this tyrant. However, California’s 45 billion-dollar agricultural industry is as diverse as it’s populace. It grows something in the neighborhood of 230 separate crops which feed the entire world. With this in mind, the California farm industry is likely to fair better than the agribusiness’ in America’s heartland. This is where soy tariffs will have a very negative impact on farmers’ profits. That ripple effect will hurt the very same folks who put this looney tune in office in the first place.

For purple mountains majesty, above the fruited plain…From the Appalachian Mountains in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west, commercial mining interests have found a friend in the White House. This east coast, corporate criminal who has seized control of the executive branch of our government is hell bent on destroying our country’s natural beauty, which he has never understood, enjoyed or experienced. This of course includes purple mountains and majestic beauty in all its lustrous hues.

America, America God shed his grace on thee…A country so nice you just had to sing it twice. If you survey the American landscape this assertion is somewhat believable. However, Americans haven’t been very good at sharing much of this grace with their fellow man. This is where the holy shit hits the fan.

Trump’s most consistent and loyal support comes from fundamentalist Christians. On the surface one might find this to be, at the very least, hypocritical. How can one consider oneself a Christian and embrace the world’s most notorious hedonist, pathological liar, sexist, racist, bully and thief. Yet, those are people, who in this instance, are like Trump, in that they ignore history. The thinking behind this is that if we are clueless about our past then it doesn’t really exist. You know like “fake news, fake news…”

Even before one of the oldest, fanatical, religious terrorist organization was formed, the Klu Klux Klan (KKK), Christians wielded their power in this country in very violent and barbaric ways. Puritans burned young women at the stake who they suspected of witchcraft. Then we began to raid the sub-Saharan African continent of their inhabitants to enslave them in this country, all in the name of God.

Then there was manifest destiny. This of course meant genocide for the indigenous people who we called savages for not believing in our God. While this went on everywhere, that other infamous terrorist organization, the Catholic Church, was converting the natives here in California. By converting, I mean torturing the adults and sodomizing the children. They will even grant you Sainthood for this behavior.

So, by the time the Christian based KKK came to assert its power in the “Bible Belt”, the “our God is better than your God” crowd had always been a well-established political power broker in the United States. For these modern-day barbarians to view this mango colored maniac as a messianic figure is kind of a natural state of being. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to even the most casual acquaintance of U.S. history when given this context.

Crown thy good with brotherhood…Yeah, more self-righteous pats on the back and a little sexism thrown in for good measure.

From sea to shining sea…and beyond as the American Empire is a world-wide commercial concern. We let nothing stand in our way of profit. We have military installations protecting American corporate interests all over the globe. It has been duly noted that capitalism has defeated democracy and nothing represents this fact better than Donald J. Trump holding the title of President of the United States.

When unchecked and unregulated capitalism was combined with the dim-witted, authoritarian tendencies of Trump it of course spelled disaster. Have we reached the low point in our Nation’s history?

We may have, but there are two more verses to America the Beautiful and more history to be written. I believe our proudest moment lies ahead. I am an American, which means, I am imbued with a seemingly endless supply of optimism. I believe that we the people will take our country back from the ghouls who stole this election and handed the reins of power to the least qualified human being imaginable.

It is always important to remember even though Trump represents the ugly face of this great nation, he doesn’t represent a majority of it’s citizens. He lost and lost big in the popular vote despite massive voter suppression, fraud and election tampering by our country’s sworn enemy and Trump’s business associates, the Russians.

America is beautiful and despite much evidence to the contrary, we are made up of mostly decent, hard- working people who just want what is best for our families.
