John Reilly, or J.R. as he is known throughout the blues universe, is no stranger to the blues scene. He has been around this music for as long as I’ve known him and that is a very long time. His Doheny Blues Festival “after parties” are the stuff of legend. At these parties, held in his Newport Beach home, while J.R. was firing up the BBQ his friends would sit around his living room and play music.  I think I should mention his friends just happen to be some of the best blues musicians in the world. If you were lucky enough to find a parking spot on that narrow slab of sand that is the Balboa peninsula, and a place to sit in the living room, you were in for a real treat.

J.R. is now bringing that experience to the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa. His friends in this case, the Nathan James Trio with very special guests James Harman and Junior Watson, will perform this Sunday, August 28^th, from 4pm-8pm, while J.R. is barbequing out back on the patio. The Tiki Bar has a great stage, sound and lighting. J.R. won’t send you down the street to pick up more beer. The Tiki Bar has a full bar with great service. You don’t have to bring change for the parking meters. There is plenty of onsite free parking. If you have a name it is on the list. Check the poster for details. See you there.
