By now I'm sure most of our readers know, several weeks ago we received the shocking news that David “Kid” Ramos has been diagnosed with cancer. The BLUES JUNCTION family holds Kid and his family in our thoughts. Last week Kid started his first round of chemotherapy and at press time is home resting.

A very moving, heartfelt, and somewhat bittersweet irony is that Lynwood Slim is putting together an event entitled Rumble for Ramos: A Special Day of Music to Benefit Kid Ramos. It was just last November that Kid and Linda Ramos worked so hard to insure that a similar type of benefit for Lynwood Slim was a financial and artistic success. Kid managed the stage on that rainy afternoon in Costa Mesa, CA and played off and on for nearly eight hours. His wife Linda was on her feet just as long as she ran the “merch” table and attended to several other details throughout the afternoon and evening.

Slim is returning the favor on October 28^th.  Check out the poster below. We hope to see you there.As we reported last week there was a benefit concert for Kid that was to be held at Nick’s Taste of Texas in Covina, CA.  The show called “We are our Brother’s Keeper“ by all accounts was an artistic and financial success. I spoke to several participants and they confirmed that the heartfelt outpouring of generosity surrounding this event was palpable.
