Many of you have some interest in the Academy Awards. I haven’t watched the broadcast in years, as I spend much of my discretionary time listening to blues music. The last time I watched was the year I went to one of those “Oscar parties” where a bunch of folks, mostly woman, sat side by side, shoulder to shoulder on a couch and watched the proceedings. They commented on every dress worn by the presenters and recipients of the coveted statuettes. The boyfriends and husbands huddled in the kitchen and talked about guy things like automobile mechanics, baseball and the Federal Reserve. Anyway, the hostess of this shindig passed out ballots with the names of the nominees and the party goers filled out these ballots.  It was such fun I decided to do the same thing with this year’s BMAs.

As a point of clarification, the BMA nominees that I predict will win are in a bold font. The nominee in blue font is my choice from the available pool. By the way, at that Oscar party my girlfriend said, “Don’t bother giving Dave a ballot he hasn’t taken me to the movies in years." The poor gal got stuck going to blues shows in the evenings. I, of course, won the Oscar pool. I doubt I will do as well here. Where is Meryl Streep when I need her?
